ONE of the leading Traditional Rulers in West Africa and the Custodian of the world famous Argungu fishing festival will be a Royal Guest at the 2011 edition of AKWAABA. The Emir HRH Alhaji Samaila Mohammad Mera CON will be joined by other Royal fathers and The Ministers of Tourism from three African countries.


As Royal Guest of Honour He will be expected to present Awards to the winners of the “BALAFON AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN TRAVELS” this year's winners include Phill Hall an environmentalist, Obinna Ekezie of Wakanow, Hon. KGB

IT was a spectacle to behold on Friday September 30th at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos as the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation put up a star-studded pre independence show tagged “unity and patriotic pre-independence concert”.

The event was symbolically staged at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos at the eve of Nigeria's 51st independence to mark the occasion and will go down in history as the first of its kind in the country.

The show commenced at about 12 noon and lasted for several hours with major household names in the music and comedy industry taking turns to thrill the crowd with exhilarating performances.

 Contemporary highlife maestro, Sunny Nneji popularly known as “Mr. Fantastik” got the ball rolling with his attractive stage presence performing popular hits like, Mr. Fantastik, Oruka, Lovey Dovey, Ojoro and Face Me while Paul Play Dairo was next to entertain with his exquisite vocals singing timeless songs like, Mosorire, Angel of My Life, Delicious, Happy Day and many more.
